Schizophyllum commune, a basidiomycetous fungus, is a rare cause of mycotic disease in humans. We describe the first case of sino-orbital infection caused by S. commune in an immunocompetent woman who presented with maxillary sinusitis and inferior orbital tumor. Identification of the organism was confirmed by rRNA sequencing. (c) 2012 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
